In this 1-hour and 30 mins long project-based course, you will learn how to create a logo for your brand, campaign, or business using Inkscape. Additionally, you will be able to incorporate colors, texts, and images that reflect your brand identity and convey your message to your audience. You will be able to create a very simple logo that is attractive, inviting, and easily comprehensible using one simple technique called Negative Space. Moreover, you will be able to identify the importance of color psychology when it comes to logo design. Along the way, you will apply and practice the basics of Inkscape as a designing software which will help you in your campaign creation or company launch. Note: This course works best for learners who are based in the North America region. We’re currently working on providing the same experience in other regions.

Learn step-by-step

In a video that plays in a split-screen with your work area, your instructor will walk you through these steps:

  1. By the end of Task 1, you will have a basic understanding of the difference between Vector and Raster Graphics. Moreover, you will be able to set up your work space and your page in Inkscape.

  2. By the end of Task 2, you will be able to create a simple three-lettered logo based on your company's abbreviation and how to apply the concept of Negative Space.

  3. By the end of Task 3, you will be able to create two-letter logos using Negative Space as well as understand how to apply stroke and shadows effects to enhance your logo.

  4. By the end of Task 4, you will be able to create a vector out of an actual image and use it to create a negative space logo that represents your brand and identity.

  5. By the end of Task 5, you will be able to add texture, stroke, and shadow effects to your logo, identify the importance of choosing a logo’s color, and how to export your design for use.
